The details of the tragedy that unfolded in Khashuri a few days ago are still unknown. As is known to the public, on June 5, at 8 am, the father, Levan Barbakadze, returning home from work, was met with a terrible sight: his 9-year-old son, Luka Barbakadze, was dead, and his wife, Nana Khikhadze, an unconscious and comatose woman, was first taken to the Khashuri Referral Clinic, and then to the First University Clinic of Tbilisi. Nana remains in the clinic to this day, and as it is known, several days of treatment by doctors proved to be effective. The woman’s health has improved significantly and her condition is now stable, she has regained consciousness. Nana Khikhadze’s brother also confirmed the fact on social media. “I am receiving many calls and I am physically unable to answer them all. Nana’s condition has improved significantly. She is in contact. Thank you for your support and attention,” writes her brother, Giorgi Khikhadze. One of the causes of the child’s death has so far been food poisoning. There is no official information on what exactly caused the tragedy. Everyone is waiting for the conclusion of specialists. The head of the Khashuri Health Center, David Chikovani, says that they are puzzled, because the initial results from the Lugar laboratory ruled out botulism. “We are still waiting for the final results of the examination. The material has been sent to the Lugar laboratory, but we have not received a final answer yet. It is true that the Food Safety Service conducts a separate examination of food, but we have also sent the food seized by the police from the apartment to the Lugar laboratory, because they asked us to send it too, so that we can check it too. An examination of the seized food will also be conducted there. In parallel, we know that the Samkharauli Forensic Bureau is also conducting an examination of the material provided by the Food Safety Service.
