“Exchange will be possible without an exam… An agreement has been reached” – good news about the driver’s license

As part of their visit to Rome, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgi Zurabashvili and Georgian Police Attaché to the Republic of Italy Vladimer Bortsvadze held a meeting at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Italy on the issue of mutual recognition of driving licenses.  The Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.

According to the ministry, at the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of this issue, which will allow Georgian citizens living in Italy to exchange their Georgian driving licenses for Italian ones without passing an exam.

“At the meeting, the parties discussed the substantive aspects of the agreement and expressed hope that after the prompt completion of the relevant procedures, it will be possible to sign the agreement. It is noteworthy that the Italian side expressed full readiness for cooperation.”

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Italian Republic have been engaged in intensive negotiations for many years with the aim of concluding the above-mentioned agreement.

“In addition, Georgia has already signed a similar agreement with Spain, Greece and Ireland,” the information released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs says.
